Byrd stays away

Bills ready to welcome Jairus Byrd with "open arms" - BuffaloBills.com
"Whenever he decides to come in, hopefully it’s soon, we’ll welcome him with open arms. But right now our focus is on the guys that are here now and we’re just going to get ready to go."

Inside The Bills | Mario talked to Byrd
"He definitely wants to be here with us," said Williams. "That’s a given. But as far as matters and how things are structured we don’t bring that up."

"I'm on both sides, you know? I understand how the business goes, being in that situation. Then I understand who it is as a player. With his situation, he's been to Pro Bowls two years," he said. "At the end of the day, that's between them."

#2 - Will C.J. reach 2K in 2013? - BuffaloBills.com
"Knowing Hackett’s offense will be up tempo they’re expected to run significantly more plays per game than they did a season ago (61.4). Syracuse averaged just over 79 plays per game in 2012 with Hackett at the controls, and they ran the ball more than 52 percent of the time. That translates in just over 41 run plays per game. That should mean significantly more carries for Spiller, who averaged just a shade under 13 per game (12.9) in 2012."

Inside The Bills | Kyle Williams expected to practice
"As of now he’s full go," Whaley said in a Friday appearance on the John Murphy Show. "I think they’re going to limit him in practice and ease him into it and not put too much on him right off the bat, but he is not going to be on PUP."

Inside The Bills | Roster vacancies unlikely to be filled
"As of now unless somebody gets released or something else comes up we’re going to stand pat," said Whaley. "Our philosophy talking to coach Marrone, with training camp being so rigorous you’d like to have some leeway of maybe one or two rosters spots so if someone goes down you don’t have to rob Peter to pay Paul."

"Each year you’ve got to re-prove yourself," said Bills center Eric Wood. "And I learned that early on, when you see veterans get cut that have made a lot of plays around the league. Your job is never safe in this league, especially with the lack of money that rookies are making these days. They’re always looking for someone who can take your spot, and rightfully so. That’s what they should be doing."

Stevie Johnson on the playoffs: 'Why not now? Why not us?' - Press Coverage | The Buffalo News
"It's very realistic," Bills receiver Stevie Johnson said. "I feel like we've got the team to make that move, and I believe in that. Why not now? Why not us? We're going to do it. We're going to make it happen."

"Everything's full-go," Johnson said as he checked in to his dorm room at St. John Fisher College. "Gotta get it rolling, man, be smart and take care of our bodies. It's going to be an important training camp for all of us, every position. As long as we get things meshing and going on the right track, we'll be all right."

"With most new coaching staffs, they like to keep their own types of players and may not have the same loyalty to some of the fringe players from the previous regime. Which players in 2013 might have a chance to make a name for themselves at camp and potentially stick on the 53-man roster?"

Williams said that’s changing, "I don’t even know where I’m going to be half the time, so that’s something definitely new. We’ve got guys all over the place so it’s definitely not something simple where you can look and say, ‘When they come out like this it’s going to be that, or he’s there, it’s not going to be that way.’ Attacking and being fast, everything we’re doing is very up-tempo and it’s a lot of pressure and on us mentally on the field having to be able to see things quick and being able to react and execute."

"Buffalo is one of two AFC East teams with a high-profile quarterback battle. Veteran Kevin Kolb will attempt to beat out rookie first-round pick EJ Manuel in training camp. Kolb is the early favorite because of experience."

Mario Williams has 'Super' expectations for Bills - Yahoo! Sports
"The Bills came up with plenty of excuses for their woes last year. And that included Williams, who blamed his poor start to the season on a nagging left wrist injury he eventually had surgically repaired after seven games."
