5 performances you might’ve missed -

"There were a number of quality individual performances in Buffalo’s first preseason game that made the highlight reel, but there were some that flew under the radar Sunday. Here’s a look at some of the better play turned in by some players you might not have noticed watching the game live."

Kolb playing catch-up in bid to start at quarterback for Bills - The Buffalo News

"It rained the day before and my front leg went out and my left knee came in a little bit," he said. "I got a little kneecap damage there."

Practice Notes, Aug. 12th -
"Kolb took reps with the first unit the second time through in the rotation. EJ Manuel got the starter reps each time a new team segment began. Doug Marrone was careful not to put too much on the veteran quarterback as his injured left knee still appeared less than 100 percent."

Bills Roundup: Kolb Getting Closer, Mon Highlights -
"The team got back on the practice field one day after their preseason opening win, with quarterback Kevin Kolb getting closer to game action, Crezdon Butler getting reps with the first team defense, and several nice plays made in practice." Kevin Kolb, EJ Manuel and Doug Marrone press conferences are also available at

Kolb trying to push past frustration -
"Oh man, I mean it was (frustrating), I’d just come off my best practice probably, feeling really comfortable," he said. "I just got through telling everybody ‘This is the most comfortable I’ve felt in a while’ and for something goofy like that to happen was very frustrating. Of course with the family situation having to leave the team for a while, obviously not a good time but you fight through those struggles and move on."

Hairston update -
"We’re meeting with the doctors on it," said Marrone. "It’s just a matter of when he feels good he’ll be out there. It’s a day by day and we’re looking forward to him coming back and I’m waiting for the doctors to say, ‘Hey put him on that field.’"

Bills near top in offensive plays -
"Philadelphia and Buffalo were first and second in the league this past week in number of plays run in their preseason games. The Eagles ran 86 plays in a loss to New England, while the Bills ran 85 plays in their win at Indianapolis."

Bills notebook: On-target Tuel has nothing but praise for his receiving corps - The Buffalo News
"There was not tentativeness from Tuel. He fired the ball down the sidelines on several occasions and let receivers make plays on the ball. It happened on a 29-yard sideline throw to Marcus Easley, another 18-yarder to Easley and a 29-yarder to Brandon Kauffman."

Bills Camp: Day 12 Practice Notes - WGR 550
"The completion of Monday's practice also is another milestone: the Bills are now through two-thirds of their training camp practice schedule for 2013. With some players returning to the field on Monday, there were some notable performances."

Whaley brings Steelers ways to Buffalo, banks on top pick Manuel -
"Talking to (team president) Russ (Brandon) and Buddy, when we started the coaching search we said, 'let's start a philosophy and identity of the Buffalo Bills,'" Whaley said after his team's walk-through this morning at St. John Fisher College. "And what we came up with is an identity as an aggressive, attacking, innovating team, and a lot of that I got (from Pittsburgh)."
