EJ Manuel has been named the NFL Rookie of the Week for his Week 2 performance against the Carolina Panthers. He led a game-winning drive and completed 27 of 39 passes for 296 yards and the winning touchdown. The last Buffalo Bills player to receive this honor was Marcell Dareus in 2011, when he notched 2.5 sacks against the Washington Redskins in Week 8.
Manuel beat out De'Andre Hopkins - who notched the game-winning touchdown for the Houston Texans - as well as Tavon Austin, Cordarelle Patterson and Tyrann Mathieu for the honor. Manuel led the Bills offense 80 yards in 1:36 with no timeouts to win the game. It was his first win in the NFL.
The Bills quarterback is fourth in the NFL in completion percentage and ninth in quarterback rating through two games. He'll face off against another high profile rookie this weekend when he takes on Geno Smith and the New York Jets.
