Bills vs. Ravens 2013: nine starters injured as Bills begin practice

Nine Bills starters were either limited or sitting out of practice as the team began prep for the Baltimore Ravens.

The Buffalo Bills are back on the practice field today to begin preparing for their Week 4 matchup with the Baltimore Ravens, and as expected, a huge chunk of their roster is either limited or on the sidelines dealing with injuries. Let's run through the list. Note that of the 14 names on the list, nine are starters.

RB C.J. Spiller: He missed most of the second half in Week 3 with a quad injury, and reporters on hand for today's practice say he's limited. Doug Marrone, however, told reporters after practice that Spiller was a full participant. As noted earlier this week, Spiller is expected to play this weekend.

WR Stevie Johnson: The Bills' top receiver is not practicing on Wednesday. He injured his hamstring on Sunday, but still played 77 of the team's 86 snaps on offense. Expect this to just be a rest day, unless the injury deteriorated severely on Monday and Tuesday for some reason. Johnson has yet to miss a game due to injury in his six-year career.

WR Marquise Goodwin: A little more than two weeks removed from hand surgery, Goodwin reportedly ran some routes with receivers on Wednesday, but obviously is not yet catching passes.

OG Kraig Urbik: He missed four plays in the first half on Sunday, but played the entire second half. Again, unless something drastic changed over the last two days, this could be just a rest day for Buffalo's starting right guard.

OG Doug Legursky: After missing the first three games, Marrone told reporters that his top interior reserve was a full practice participant today.

DL Kyle Williams: We're not aware of him sustaining an injury in Week 3, but evidently he's dealing with the same Achilles issues that have forced him into two surgeries over the last couple of years. Marrone confirmed it's an Achilles issue after practice.

DL Marcell Dareus: After missing most of last week's game with an ankle injury, Dareus was dressed and taking part in individual drills, according to reporters on hand, but Marrone confirmed after practice that Dareus was limited.

OLB Mario Williams: He left last week's game late with a sprained ankle, and while Marrone seemed optimistic earlier this week that he'd be available to play against Baltimore, his level of participation in practice this week will be something to monitor. Marrone confirmed Wednesday that Williams did not practice.

CB Stephon Gilmore: Buffalo's top cornerback still isn't practicing, a little more than four weeks removed from surgery to repair a broken wrist. He's expected to miss another two weeks, at minimum.

CB Leodis McKelvin: There isn't any player on this list that the Bills need more, and while reporters saw McKelvin dressed and stretching, Marrone told reporters after practice that his top corner did not participate Wednesday. If the team can work him up to full participation by Friday, they'll be in good shape as far as his Sunday availability goes.

CB Ron Brooks: He's still recovering from foot surgery, and won't be back for a while yet.

Jairus Byrd: Status quo for Buffalo's top safety, as he continued to work in a limited capacity on Wednesday, according to several reporters on hand.

Dustin Hopkins: Buffalo's rookie kicker continues to miss practice time as he tries to work back from a groin injury.
