Jim O'Neil, Jeff Hafley, Brian Fleury leaving Bills for Browns

As expected, several Bills assistant coaches are following Mike Pettine to Cleveland. Doug Marrone gave a status update on his defensive coaching staff at a Monday press conference introducing new coordinator Jim Schwartz.

Buffalo Bills head coach Doug Marrone announced on Monday the names of several assistant coaches that are expected to follow Mike Pettine to the Cleveland Browns. The announcement was made at a press conference introducing new defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz.

Jim O'Neil, last year the Bills' outside linebackers coach, is expected to become the Browns' defensive coordinator. We already knew that.

Jeff Hafley, hired earlier this month under the nebulous title of Defensive Assistant, will join Pettine and O'Neil in Cleveland as the defensive backs coach, per Marrone. Brian Fleury, last year a quality control coach on defense, will become Cleveland's assistant linebackers coach, again per Marrone.

Anthony Weaver, the Bills' defensive line coach that came to Buffalo from New York with Pettine last year, is a name that Marrone danced around a bit, but ultimately said that he "doesn't feel good about him staying," as well.

There is a bit of good news on the defensive side of the ball: Donnie Henderson and Samson Brown will both be returning in their 2013 roles, as defensive backs and assistant defensive backs coaches, respectively. But when all is said and down, it's sounding like the Bills will need to hire, at bare minimum, a defensive line coach and a linebackers coach once Pettine is done leading his exodus to Cleveland.

Marrone also disclosed that the team remains in the process of interviewing potential wide receiver coaches, a process which was delayed by the team's pursuit of Schwartz. Schwartz and quarterbacks coach Todd Downing, hired on Friday, will be the first of many new coaching changes that Marrone and the Bills will make this spring.

Here's a quick look at Buffalo's coaching staff as it stands today, minus the names above (including Weaver's).
