Rob Moore hired as Buffalo Bills wide receivers coach

The Buffalo Bills on Thursday morning announced that Rob Moore is the team's new wide receivers coach.

If the name is familiar to you, you're probably remembering the two-time Pro Bowl receiver, drafted No. 1 overall in the 1990 supplemental draft, that split a decade between the New York Jets and the Arizona Cardinals; you have the right Rob Moore in mind. Once his 10-year career came to a close (628 receptions, 9,368 yards, 49 touchdowns), Moore got into coaching, ultimately joining Doug Marrone at their alma mater, Syracuse, prior to the 2010 college football season.

Moore has spent the last four years as the receivers coach in Syracuse, staying on board when Marrone left for Buffalo last year and was replaced by Scott Shafer. His hiring to the same position in Buffalo comes a day after Syracuse brought in one of their best recruiting classes in recent seasons.

In Buffalo, Moore will take over a position coached in 2013 by Ike Hilliard, who was fired last month. The Bills have invested significant resources into their top four receivers - Stevie Johnson, Robert Woods, T.J. Graham and Marquise Goodwin - and it will be on Moore to help the young talent at the position develop properly.
