2014 NFL Draft results: Buffalo Bills pick Randell Johnson

Linebacker depth continues to be a focus this offseason, as the Buffalo Bills have drafted Randell Johnson of Florida Atlantic in the seventh round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

With the No. 221 overall pick (seventh round) in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills have selected Florida Atlantic linebacker Randell Johnson.

A fifth-year senior, Johnson finished his four-year career at Florida Atlantic with 195 tackles, 30.5 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks. He is the prototypical late-round athletic project; the 6'3", 242-pounder runs a 4.6-second 40-yard dash, had a 38.5-inch vertical jump at his pro day, and offers some positional versatility as a collegiate pass rusher. He lacks strength and is not particularly instinctive, however, and also comes into the league with durability concerns. He could end up being a project strong-side linebacker in the Jim Schwartz 4-3 defense, and he'll help his cause in trying to make the Bills' 53-man squad this fall if he shows he can play special teams.

Buffalo has one more pick to make, and it'll happen here pretty quick, coming up at No. 237 overall. They acquired the pick earlier on Saturday in a trade with Philadelphia that landed the Bills running back Bryce Brown.
