Buffalo Bills announce nine undrafted free agent additions

The Buffalo Bills announced on Tuesday the signings of seven undrafted free agents, as well as the soon-to-be finalized signings of two more, both of which played collegiately across town at the University at Buffalo.

On Sunday, the day after the conclusion of the 2014 NFL Draft, we discussed the then-reported signings of six of those players in this post. (You can read more about them in the Bills' release on the subject.) The players we've already covered:

• Damien Jacobs, DT, Florida
• Jimmy Gaines, LB, Miami (FL)
• Darrin Kitchens, LB, Florida
• Darius Robinson, CB, Clemson
• Kenny Ladler, CB, Vanderbilt
• Deon Broomfield, S, Iowa State

The other three players, then, are:

Bryan Johnson, LB, West Texas A&M

He played at a community college in New York City before transferring to West Texas A&M. The Bills list him at 250 and are calling him a strong-side linebacker, but he weighed in at 260 at his pro day, and with 4.99-second 40-yard dash speed, his best chance at sticking with the Bills might come as an edge rusher, which he has experience doing.

Colby Way, DT, Buffalo

A limited athlete, the 6'3", 285-pound Way saw his way to a strong senior season (five sacks) by way of his being a heady, opportunistic player. He will play inside at tackle in a 4-3 defense, and if the team has plans to use some 4-3 Under, he can factor into the equation as an end in that front, as well.

Derek Brim, S, Buffalo

A former receiver, Brim switched to safety and become a solid contributor in his senior season for the Bulls. The 6'1", 200-pound defensive back has 4.6 speed and enters into the fray at one of the Bills' most heated positional battles on the defensive side of the ball heading into the summer months.

Our Bills depth chart has been updated accordingly (and will soon be re-tooled). We count 89 players on the Bills' active roster, so some of the tryout players in camp this weekend have at least one roster spot to fight for.
