With the vast majority of fantasy football championships having wrapped up last weekend, our Week 17 focus shifts more towards daily fantasy formats. While the Buffalo Bills will be looking to play spoiler against the New York Jets, I am looking to avoid them in this weekend's daily matchups.
Sammy Watkins is on the verge of a 1,000-yard season, but he will need a successful day against Darrelle Revis to reach that milestone. Watkins only had three catches for 14 yards back in Week 10, and I would explore other options this weekend. To see Watkins against Revis is a must-watch matchup in reality, but it's one to avoid in fantasy. While Watkins has been targeted much more over the past five weeks, this is a gamble not worth taking.
The last time the Bills played against the Jets, Tyrod Taylor took a beating. There was constant pressure on the Bills' signal caller, and he was sacked four times in the game. Taylor finished the game with only 158 passing yards, and was limited to 12 yards rushing. Aside from any statistics, Taylor did not pass the eye test in the first game against the Jets. There are plenty of other options that can be considered in your daily options this week - ones that are not playing a top defensive unit on the verge of making the playoffs.
Karlos Williams and Mike Gillislee will go against a tough Jets run defense, and I would expect the two backs to split carries on Sunday, assuming LeSean McCoy does not play. They could be affordable options in daily formats, but I prefer to look at players that are not part of a timeshare. Neither is more than a boom-or-bust option that is strictly touchdown-dependent against the Jets.
In reality, there are no other Bills that you would consider this weekend in daily formats. After the season, we will recap which members of the Bills met, and missed, expectations in fantasy football this season. Best of luck if you are still playing in Week 17.
