Bills training camp injury updates: Mario Williams, Leodis McKelvin, Dan Carpenter

Mario Williams didn't miss the first Bills training camp practice of the year, after all, but four of his teammates remain on the shelf - including two starters.

Three important Buffalo Bills were placed on the Non-Football Injury list on Thursday. Mario Williams was the biggest name, but he was cleared prior to missing any training camp practice time, and suited up on Friday (though he was held out of full-team drills).

Leodis McKelvin and Dan Carpenter both remain on the sideline, however, but head coach Rex Ryan downplayed the seriousness of their ailments.

"Carpenter just has a tweak with a hamstring and no major setbacks there," said Ryan of his kicker (per BuffaloBills.com).

McKelvin's injury is not the same injury that sidelined him at the end of the 2014 campaign. If it was related to his surgically repaired ankle, he would have been placed on the PUP list, as it occurred under the supervision of the team. Instead, it's a training injury the team isn't overly concerned about.

"As far as Leodis is concerned, he's got a little injury," said Ryan. "That we'll see how it progresses through this training camp, but I'm not concerned now with it. I know he's doing what he can to speed his recovery, so that's a good thing."

Reserve tight end Chris Manhertz and undrafted rookie cornerback Cam Thomas both remain on the Physically Unable to Perform list dealing with injuries suffered during offseason workouts.
