The Buffalo Bills are playing the Cleveland Browns in a nationally-televised preseason game on ESPN this evening, and it's a momentous occasion for the team's two young quarterbacks, Tyrod Taylor and EJ Manuel. But they'll have to play well despite the team missing several big-name players.
Taylor will start, and the Bills confirmed pre-game that veteran Matt Cassel is not expected to see any playing time, indicating that Taylor and Manuel will se the overwhelming majority of the snaps tonight. It's a chance for both - chiefly Taylor, since he's starting - to prove himself worthy of the up-for-grabs starting gig, while perhaps doubling as a vote of confidence (of sorts) for Cassel, the presumed favorite.
Buffalo's list of players not playing tonight is, however, lengthy. Sitting out are running backs LeSean McCoy, Fred Jackson, Karlos Williams, Boobie Dixon, and Bryce Brown, wide receivers Sammy Watkins, Robert Woods, Percy Harvin, and Marcus Easley, defensive linemen Kyle Williams and Alex Carrington, linebacker Jimmy Gaines, and cornerbacks Leodis McKelvin and Cam Thomas.
This is your open thread for the first half of tonight's game. Let's see what these quarterbacks - and the many young players, specifically at wide receiver, that also have golden opportunities sitting in front of them - are made of. Go Bills!
