Bills-Colts final score: Buffalo bounces Indianapolis, 27-14

The Buffalo Bills used solid defense and an explosive offense to beat the Indianapolis Colts to open their season with a 27-14 victory.

Tyrod Taylor threw a beautiful 51-yard touchdown pass to open the scoring, and showed burst with his legs as he he went 14-for-19 for 195 yards and added 41 yards on the ground. Percy Harvin led the Bills receivers with 79 yards, most coming on his long touchdown catch, while Karlos Williams played well in his rookie debut, popping off for 55 yards and a touchdown.

On defense, the Bills heckled Indianapolis all day picking, off two Andrew Luck passes. The Colts were one-dimensional, abandoning the run to gain just 64 yards on the ground (and 20 of those came from Luck scrambles).

The biggest plays of the game may have come off the foot of Colton Schmidt, who averaged 46 yards per punt while pinning the Colts inside their 10. Rookie punt returner Phillip Dorsett even muffed one, resulting in a Randell Johnson recovery late in the game. Dan Carpenter was perfect from 41 and 45 yards.

The Bills (1-0) next face the New England Patriots (1-0) at Ralph Wilson Stadium in what should be a marquee Week 2 matchup.
