As has been a theme for all of 2015 NFL wild card weekend, today's matchup between the 9-7 Washington Redskins and the 10-6 Green Bay Packers features two teams on streaks.
Once upon a time, these 2015 Packers were sitting pretty at 6-0 and in first place in their division. They ended up losing six out of their last 10 games, however, as Aaron Rodgers and their banged-up offense struggled, and their Week 17 loss to Minnesota kept them from winning the NFC North, forcing them instead to play a road wild card game.
Washington, meanwhile, captured a championship in the weak NFC East with convincing wins in each of their last four games, and by winning seven of their final 10 games overall after a 2-4 start. They enter the postseason as one of the hottest teams still playing; they're averaging 35.7 points per game in their last three contests, with Kirk Cousins (11 touchdowns, zero interceptions) playing as well as any quarterback in football during that stretch.
These teams are trending in opposite directions, which is why the Redskins have emerged as the trendiest "upset" pick in wild card weekend. But that'll still be the Packers, and the playoff-tested Rodgers, standing on the visiting sideline at FedEx Field today.
Can the Redskins pull the upset, or will the Packers find their groove again and advance to the divisional round of the NFC playoffs for the fifth time in the last six seasons? This is your open thread to watch the game live. Who are you rooting for?
