Two months ago, the defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots were 10-0. Then the injury bug struck, and the Patriots lost four of their last six games en route to the No. 2 seed in the AFC playoff picture.
Three months ago, the Kansas City Chiefs were 1-5 and in last place in the AFC West. Then they started an incredible run in which they won 11 straight games, secured the fifth seed in the AFC (and very nearly won the division), and ended a lengthy streak of years without a playoff win. They are still on that streak.
Today, the 12-4 Patriots host the 12-5 Chiefs at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough. New England is hoping that being a bit healthier will return them to their winning ways, while the Chiefs are hoping to extend their winning streak to a dozen. The victor will participate in next Sunday's AFC championship game.
This is your open thread for today's Pats-Chiefs tilt. Go Chiefs! (Go Chiefs, right? We're all on board with that?) Yeah! Go Chiefs!
