It's Monday, and that means we have a roundup of NFL Draft notes, mock drafts, and general football links for you. Each week, we'll summarize some of the things worth knowing as draft news continues to stream in.
Last week at Buffalo Rumblings
Here's last week's Mock Draft Monday, for those of you who missed it.
Doug Whaley was one of the general managers in attendance at the East-West Shrine Game. Standouts from the week included Massachusetts receiver Tajae Sharpe and Michigan center Graham Glasgow, who both received Senior Bowl invites. The star of the game was Oregon quarterback Vernon Adams, who threw for three touchdowns in only one half of play.
Last Tuesday was the deadline for underclassmen to declare for the NFL draft. Including college graduates with remaining NCAA eligibility, over 100 players entered the draft, a new record.
Together with Rumblings commenter stevemason, we broke down Taylor Decker's 2015 game against Michigan.
The Senior Bowl rosters were finalized, and we listed 26 names for you to know heading into this week of practices.
Mock of the week
Lance Zierlein is the main NFL Draft writer for NFL.com, and his dad has been coaching offensive lines since the 1970's (currently working with the Arizona Cardinals). His first mock draft featured a few surprises, including DeForest Buckner going one pick ahead of Joey Bosa and Clemson defensive lineman Kevin Dodd going ninth overall. He gave the Bills Robert Nkemdiche, but still present on the board were Reggie Ragland, Laquon Treadwell, and Noah Spence. Would you take the talented but troubled defensive lineman over those other names?
Around the web
The Senior Bowl takes place this Saturday at 2:30 PM EST. For a primer on the players who will be participating, check out the rosters on DraftBreakdown, which feature linked videos of almost every prospect in the game.
If you didn't read this Fanpost by dmackbone21 yet, go do that now. Yes, the whole thing. It's well worth your time, and a very detailed op-ed on the state of quarterbacking in this year's draft class.
Daniel Jeremiah released his first mock draft of the year, giving Alabama defensive lineman Jarran Reed to Buffalo.
Jeremiah also published his first ranking of the top 50 prospects in the draft. He had Carson Wentz as his top quarterback, one spot ahead of Jared Goff. This has some very detailed film notes on each player, so be sure to read through it.
Matt Miller published a scouting notebook that included a Jalen Ramsey scouting report, five defenders to know for the Senior Bowl, and a two-round mock draft, which saw the Bills taking Spence and Nebraska defensive tackle Maliek Collins.
Dan Kadar released a one-round mock draft today, and had the Bills pick Nkemdiche. He also listed Jack Conklin and UCLA nose tackle Kenny Clark as potential fits for Buffalo.
Want another Senior Bowl watch list? Matt Waldman listed the skill position prospects he's following this week, and broke down what parts of their game he thinks need to show up in practices.
