Shaq Lawson will practice Wednesday, could play Sunday vs. Dolphins

The NFL debut of Shaq Lawson is nearing.

Shaq Lawson is close to returning to the field for the Bills. In today’s media session, Rex Ryan said the following:

The team’s 2016 first-round pick has been on the PUP list for the first six weeks of the season with a shoulder injury. You may have heard about it at work or something.

By rule, when Lawson practices for the first time, the Bills have three full weeks to activate him. If they don’t, he must remain on the PUP list for the remainder of the season.

In an August 10 report, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported a source informed him Lawson was expected to be back between Week 6 and Week 8.

Random aside here: The Bills recent early-round pick situation is actually pretty crazy when you think about it, especially considering how well the team has played over the past month.

Spanning from 2014 to 2016, of the six Round 1 and Round 2 draft picks Buffalo was originally given by the league, only Ronald Darby has played in over 150 snaps this season.

(As you know, the Bills only made five first and second round selections after sending their 2015 Round 1 choice to the Browns in the Sammy Watkins trade.)

Stay tuned for more on Lawson — and his potential Bills debut on Sunday — throughout the week here at Rumblings.
