When Marcell Dareus was on the field against the Jaguars, he was his usual, dominating self.
But during Jacksonville’s final drive on Sunday, the Bills stalwart was on the sideline.
After the game, Rex Ryan spoke about the mysterious injury.
Here’s the exchange he had with a reporter via The Buffalo News:
"Marcell (Dareus), he had some abdominal issue there and only when the game's on the line so it's really in the fourth quarter..." - Rex
Q: Is there any lingering concern with Marcell Dareus' injury?
A: I'm not real sure. I guess that he kept telling the medical staff that, "no, I can play," but then it's like I'm not going to put a guy out there that is clearly having some issues and shoot, we'll see. Hopefully it's something that he can get over.
A: No, I think it's a strain of some kind but we'll know more of it as the week goes on.
Per The Buffalo News, Dareus mentioned he had “a little malfunction,” and went on to say “I’m going to talk to my doctor and see what’s going on,” he said. “… I know I’m going to be OK. There’s a bunch of mini car wrecks in a football game. Of course I’m going to be sore.”
As of right now, the injury — whatever it may be — doesn’t appear to be overly serious, but we’ll be keeping a close eye on how much Dareus does in practice this week. However, at this point, he seems to be a player who can be limited for a few practices yet still play on Sunday.
