Buffalo Bills players react to Rex Ryan firing

They didn’t like it.

When the Buffalo Bills fired head coach Rex Ryan, the players were on their day off and found out the news on Twitter like many of us. Many shared their thoughts and responses immediately:

Cornerback Ronald Darby

Defensive lineman Leger Douzable

Douzable was with Rex in New York for Ryan’s final two seasons as head coach before coming to Buffalo this season. Douzable makes a few good points on the drought and Rex’s short tenure. His most telling though is that he feels that the players let Rex down. I, and probably most fans, would have it the other way.

Former tight end Chris Gragg

Defensive linemen Marcell Dareus

There is much more in the Facebook post that Josina Anderson linked in that tweet. I recommend reading it all.

Wide Receiver Marquise Goodwin

Marquise Goodwin is the first active offensive player to chime in. He does owe a lot to Rex. I am not sure how many coaches would allow their 3rd receiver to skip the whole offseason. Goodwin also had his best season this year mostly due to staying healthy, but also because Rex kept him around.
