2016 NFL mock draft: DeForest Buckner to the Baltimore Ravens

The San Francisco 49ers, and general manager grcorrie, are on the clock!

With the sixth pick in the 2016 Buffalo Rumblings Community Mock, the Baltimore Ravens (represented by RocJeff) have selected DeForest Buckner, defensive lineman from Oregon. Here's what he had to say about the pick:

Ozzie Newsome is known to move around in the draft. Having failed to secure more picks by moving back, we were forced to make a decision. After day 1, I retooled my board and came up with the names Stanley, Buckner, Hargreaves and Bosa.

In the end, the Ravens defense is a much more glaring problem that their offensive line. Finishing in the bottom 10 in both passing and rushing defense and losing key DL Chris Canty in the offseason, this team is in desperate need of fresh talent. Buckner became the best player on my board with that decision.

DeForest Buckner is a guy who can instantly step in on the Ravens defensive line and make a difference. He is a natural fit for the Ravens defensive scheme and reinforces some of the other players on the line. His pass rush ability compliments nicely with Dumervil and Suggs and should take pressure off the aging LBs allowing them to be more opportunistic. He can collapse a pocket on his own if single covered and get pressure on the AFC North's pocket passers which is a huge asset for a team needing help in the secondary as well. His pursuit has often been complimented and should allow him to contain quietly solid rushing teams in Pittsburgh and Jacksonville. Filling this hole with this kind of a talent makes every position on the defense better. I had Buckner rated higher than Bosa because of the kind of ceiling this guy has. If he continues to improve his flaws as he did his senior year, this guy will be a household name.

The San Francisco 49ers are now on the clock. Remember, when it's your turn to submit a draft choice, email it to dan.r.lavoie+sbnation@gmail.com.
