With the tenth pick in the 2016 Buffalo Rumblings Community Mock, the New York Giants, and general manager Mr. Marbles, have selected Ezekiel Elliott, running back from Ohio State. Here's what he had to say about the pick:
Ever since I was assigned to the team, Elliot was my #1 target for the Giants. Equipping Eli Manning with a truly dynamic, three-down back for the first time since Tiki Barber made the pick a no-brainer. I was truly sweating the Eagles snatching him at #8 and was contemplating make a move up but their trade with the Vikings assured me him dropping to #10.
Coming off an underwhelming 6-10 season there are needs up and down the roster. There are holes on the offensive line, at linebacker, and at safety. Available prospects like Darron Lee, Reggie Ragland, Taylor Decker, and Vernon Hargreaves III would all make sense here but I just don't see them making the same immediate impact that Elliot can. Elliot's well rounded running style, elite vision, quick feet complement his quality pass-blocking and receiving skills.This is a Giants team that hasn't made the playoffs in the four seasons following their Super Bowl victory in 2011. Bolstering their offense with Elliot would make their large free agent investments on the defense show that they are serious about being a competitive in a seemingly always up for grabs NFC North.
