Jim Kelly still cancer-free after latest biopsy

The Bills legend was back in a surgical gown on Thursday but the results were good.

Jim Kelly has been through a lot in his cancer treatment , but the former Buffalo Bills quarterback has to stay vigilant; it’s already returned once. When his most recent scans came back inconclusive, doctors chose to perform a biopsy of the tissue according to his wife, Jill.

Kelly was originally diagnosed with oral cancer in 2013. He had surgery then, but it came back in 2014 so they tried surgery with radiation. Since that treatment began, he’s lost 30 pounds, eaten through a feeding tube, contracted MRSA, made countless trips from Buffalo to New York City and back, and constantly updated Bills fans via his wife’s Instagram account. She took to that account on Thursday to share the results of the latest biopsy.

At his football camp last week, Kelly said he “feels awesome” and has returned to his “playing weight.”

“I’ve been through so much,” said Kelly. “I just live each day, and whatever happens, happens. I’ve lived a very good life. My life has definitely changed, but the attitude is still the same.”
