Bills vs. Cardinals inactives: Buffalo without Sammy Watkins, Ronald Darby

New, comments

Reports were true, and the Bills are missing two of their top players.

The Buffalo Bills haven’t played in ten days but their injury situation got worse. That stinks.

Sammy Watkins has been dogged by a foot injury for months now, and to make matters worse he was stepped on in practice this week and will be unavailable during today’s game. On the other side of the ball, Ronald Darby tweaked his hamstring and won’t be around to help defend against Larry Fitzgerald. Watkins will be replaced by Marquise Goodwin, who caught a long touchdown last week against the Jets. Kevon Seymour will be the likely fill-in for Gilmore with Nickell Robey-Coleman staying in the slot.

One more starter is out as offensive tackle Cordy Glenn continues to come back from an ankle injury. Cyrus Kouandjio will start in his place against Arizona DE Chandler Jones.

Greg Salas likely would have had a larger role today with Sammy Watkins out, but a groin injury had him questionable and he will sit. Third-string quarterback Cardale Jones likely wouldn’t suit up even if his shoulder wasn’t bothering him and backup safety Colt Anderson is also out for the third straight game with a foot injury.

Offensive lineman Patrick Lewis remains a healthy scratch and the Bills don’t have a backup center on the game day roster.

Here is the full list of inactives:

  • S Colt Anderson (foot)
  • CB Ronald Darby (hamstring)
  • OT Cordy Glenn (ankle)
  • QB Cardale Jones (shoulder)
  • OL Patrick Lewis (healthy scratch)
  • WR Greg Salas (groin)
  • WR Sammy Watkins (foot)
