The most influential offensive player in Buffalo’s Week 3 dismantling of the highly-touted Arizona Cardinals was LeSean McCoy. Now, Bills fans can vote him in as the FedEx ground player of the week.
McCoy’s big day came at a perfect time for Buffalo, who was desperate for a win after an 0-2 start. Without Sammy Watkins, Tyrod Taylor struggled, but Shady picked up the slack, rushing 17 times for 110 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also added 3 catches for six yards. New offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn masterfully schemed for McCoy, and the players up front executed, giving him plenty of space to run all throughout the contest.
Compared to the other nominees this week, McCoy has the best numbers. LeGarrette Blount (24/105/2) and Christine Michael (20/106/2; 2 catches for 5 yards) each had great days, but McCoy led the trio in both total yards and yards per attempt. While all three players were instrumental in their teams’ respective victories, McCoy was clearly the most vital to his individual team. Maybe I’m just a homer, though.
