The Buffalo Bills went on the road and upset a very good Atlanta Falcons team on Sunday. No particular part of the game was perfect from Sean McDermott and his crew, but all three phases were really good. These three guys stood out the most in each of the three areas of the game
Offense: TE Charles Clay
Clay came up big in this game a few times. He is clearly quarterback Tyrod Taylor’s most trusted target early in the season. Clay totaled five receptions on seven total targets. Two of Clay’s catches went for big yardage (44 and 34) and put the offense in perfect position to score. Clay was also able to set some nice blocks on the edge in the running game as well.
Defense: S Micah Hyde
This Bills secondary continues to impress week in and week out. Hyde may be one of the best free agent acquisitions by Buffalo in a very long time. Hyde came up huge today against the potent Falcons offense. The safety came up with seven tackles, one of which saved a touchdown. Hyde also was able to get two interceptions in pivotal moments of the game, which brought him up to an NFL-leading three picks on the year.
Special Teams: K Stephen Hauschka
Hauschka did it again. The first-year Bill went 2/2 on PAT’s and 3/3 on field goals, two from very long range (56 and 55). The two deep field goals came late in the 4th quarter and forced Atlanta to score a touchdown to win instead of playing for a field goal and potential tie game. Aside from his first two attempts as a Bill, Hauschka has been money.
