Despite the shocking news Wednesday morning out of One Bills Drive that rookie Nathan Peterman will take over quarterbacking duties of the Buffalo Bills from Tyrod Taylor, there was other news on the injury front as the Bills (5-4) prepare to head west to take on the Los Angeles Chargers (3-6).

Wide receiver Zay Jones (ankle) is back at practice Wednesday after missing all of last week’s practices, as well as the loss to the New Orleans Saints, with the injury.

Tight end Charles Clay, left tackle Cordy Glenn (ankle/foot), and running back Mike Tolbert won't practice Wednesday, while wide receiver Jordan Matthews will be limited in practice. Tolbert’s injury wasn’t disclosed.

Several veterans — defensive tackle Kyle Williams, linebacker Lorenzo Alexander, and running back LeSean McCoy — were given Wednesday off as a rest day.

McDermott did not immediately provide an update on defensive end Jerry Hughes, who injured his shin vs. the Saints, or cornerback E.J. Gaines, who has been dealing with a groin injury, other to say Hughes and Gaines were day-to-day.
