The Buffalo Bills (5-5) just got their doors blown off by the Los Angeles Chargers (4-6), 54-24.
Starting quarterback Nathan Peterman had five interceptions before being benched for Tyrod Taylor, and while that’s the story that is going to dominate the narrative on Monday. Taylor added a fumble, which the Chargers returned for a touchdown. They also took back Peterman’s first interception. At least two of Peterman’s picks can be directly tied to bad play by the offensive line, as he was hit as he threw.
The Bills defense is also very much to blame for today’s blowout, letting former coach Anthony Lynn score at will. It’s the most points the Chargers have scored since 1985. Receiver Keenan Allen had 159 yards and a touchdown, helping Phillip Rivers get to 251 yards and two touchdowns on the day. Running back Melvin Gordon added 80 yards rushing and a touchdown while rookie back Austin Ekeler added 40 yards on the ground and a touchdown.
Buffalo now has three straight bad losses and while they are miraculously in sixth in the AFC playoff race, they face a showdown with the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead next week before hosting the New England Patriots.
