The Buffalo Bills (5-3) are preparing to face the red-hot New Orleans Saints (6-2) in a 1 p.m. Eastern non-conference clash at New Era Field. On Monday, first-year head coach Sean McDermott provided updates on a slew of injured Bills.
Rookie wide receiver Zay Jones, who injured his knee during Thursday night’s 34-21 loss to the New York Jets before returning in the second half, did not practice Monday. Jones is listed as day-to-day with his injury.
Tight end Charles Clay, who has missed the past three games with a knee injury, was held out of practice. Same goes for cornerback E.J. Gaines (groin). Both Clay and Gaines are day-to-day with their ailments and McDermott said both could play Sunday.
Left tackle Cordy Glenn (ankle/foot) will not practice Monday, while new acquisition Kelvin Benjamin will practice and appears set to make his Bills’ debut Sunday vs. the Saints.
McDermott added there were no setbacks for weakside linebacker Ramon Humber (thumb) and free safety Jordan Poyer (knee). The two key defensive contributors returned to action vs. the Jets after suffering their injuries in Weeks 4 and 7, respectively.
