It’s Monday after the Buffalo Bills Week 15 win over the Miami Dolphins and naturally we are looking at playoff scenarios. With the Bills having not made the postseason since before the Playstation 2 was released in 2000, fans in Buffalo are particularly interested in postseason possibilities.
But what if the worst happens? What if the Bills stink up the joint in New England and lose to the Patriots then turn around and fall on their face against the Miami Dolphins? Could Buffalo possibly make the playoffs at 8-8?
You bet they could.
It would take some fancy footwork by some bottom dwellers, defeating the Baltimore Ravens, but it could still happeno.
- Buffalo loses to New England and Miami to finish 8-8
- Baltimore loses to Indianapolis and Cincinnati to finish 8-8
- Miami loses to Kansas City but beats Buffalo to finish 7-9
- Los Angeles loses to Oakland to finish no better than 8-8
In this scenario, Buffalo would be the sixth seed. A three-way tie between Baltimore, Buffalo, and Los Angeles would first eliminate the Chargers on AFC conference record. Then Buffalo would tie Baltimore in record vs. common opponents before beating them in strength of victory.
6th seed: Buffalo Bills
7th seed: Baltimore Ravens
8th seed: Los Angeles Chargers
Some pretty improbable results would be needed to sneak in at 8-8, but we wanted to let you know anyway.
