In the final week of the 2017 regular season, the Buffalo Bills will face off against division foe Miami Dolphins. The Bills desperately need a road win to keep their slim playoff hopes alive. Working against the Bills is a Dolphins team that is much better at home than they are on the road. Working in their favor is the success the Bills had against the Dolphins earlier this season and the fact that the Dolphins have little to play for and are led by apathetic Jay Cutler.
When the Bills beat the Dolphins two weeks ago at New Era Field their offense had one of their best games this season. They scored 24 points (4th most in 2017), put up 328 total yards (5th most in 2017), and had zero turnovers. If this Bills can match this offensive success again they will have a great shot at beating the Dolphins. Miami has only won one game this season when allowing their opponent to score more than 20 points.
It much the same for the Bills defense. Continue what they did earlier this month to keep Jay Cutler and the Miami offense contained. Leslie Frazier and his defense held the Dolphins to their fifth-lowest point total of the season and forced them into the second-most turnovers of the season. And that was when the Dolphins still had playoff hopes. Miami was officially eliminated from the playoffs after losing to the Kansas City Chiefs last week. They are also quarterbacked by Jay Cutler, who is likely on his way out of Miami and “back” to the broadcasting booth. I do not see these Dolphins putting out their best effort. The Bills have much more to fight for.
A repeat of Week 15 match up between these two teams would be the first major step towards a Bills playoff berth. The Bills are better than the Dolphins and have much more to play for. This should not be a difficult game. It is the Bills though.
