The New England Patriots came into Orchard Park to face the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, and they did what they’ve done for the better part of the last 17 years. The visiting team emerged with a 23-3 victory, and they had a few standout performances in fantasy football along the way.
RB Rex Burkhead
It’s always tough to bank on a particular New England running back, as no one ever seems to know who, how, or why Bill Belichick will decide to deploy his backs. Burkhead was the beneficiary of Buffalo’s soft run defense, rushing 12 times for 78 yards and 2 touchdowns on the day. He also added 3 catches for another 25 yards in compiling a game-high 23.8 fantasy points.
TE Rob Gronkowski
Gronk caught 9-of-11 targets on Sunday for 147 yards. Although he was held out of the end zone, his 19.2 fantasy points were third among all tight ends in Week 13.
K Stephen Gostkowski
New England’s field goal kicker had himself a 13-point fantasy day thanks in part to a stalwart Buffalo defense keeping the Patriots out of the end zone in the first half. He hit three field goals, one of which was of the 50-yard variety, and added 2 second half extra points.
Patriots D/ST
New England’s stop unit also managed a 13-point effort on Sunday, as they intercepted Tyrod Taylor on what was an absolutely awful decision to throw into a crowd at the goal line on the first possession of the game. They also had more sacks (4) than points allowed (3), which always helps fantasy scoring.
QB Tom Brady
Brady had his worst day of the 2017 season in terms of fantasy scoring, managing only 9.32 points on the afternoon. He threw for 258 yards and no touchdowns. He was also intercepted by Tre’Davious White in the fourth quarter.
