The NFL handed Rob Gronkowksi a one-game suspension for his uncalled for hit on rookie cornerback Tre’Davious White. According to Ben Volin of the Boston Globe, the case will be heard by Hall of Fame linebacker Derrick Brooks and another representative from the NFL and NFLPA over the phone. A decision on the matter should be out later in the day on Tuesday.
News: Gronk suspension appeal to be heard today by phone, with Derrick Brooks presiding https://t.co/kAM9cXrX98— Ben Volin (@BenVolin) December 5, 2017
Gronkowski’s hit is deserving of suspension. No matter what team you are a fan of there is no room for that in this game. However, he has been something of a model citizen on the field for that kind of thing for his eight seasons in the NFL. Being a first-time offender usually plays a role in these situations. If the the appeal overturns the suspension, then you may see a fine come Gronkowski’s way from the commissioner.
Once the decision is announced, we will have more details on the matter.
