With the 171st pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills selected Nathan Peterman, QB, Pittsburgh. The Bills took him with the second of their remaining two fifth round selections. They added Boston College linebacker Matt Milano earlier in the round.
Peterman started his career at Tennessee but transferred to Pittsburgh. He was the starter for the Panthers in 2015 and 2016.
As a junior, the 6’2”, 225-pound Peterman completed completed 61.7 percent for 2,287 yards with 20 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Last year, he completed 60.5 percent of his throws for 2,855 yards (9.3 yards per attempt) with 27 touchdowns and seven picks.
His biggest performance of the season came in a win against Clemson. Peterman completed 22 of 37 passes for 308 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions in Pittsburgh’s upset victory on the road.
