The Buffalo Bills have announced that Malik Boyd has been hired to fill the Director of Pro Personnel position in their front office. This will be a promotion for Boyd, who for the last three years has held the Assistant Director of Pro Scouting position with the Arizona Cardinals.
Boyd had 12 years of service with the Cardinals under his belt. His nine years prior to being Assistant Director of Pro Scouting were spent in college scouting. His first two years of NFL experience came as a scout for the Indianapolis Colts.
Boyd, a former Fritz Pollard Scout of the Year winner, was new Bills General Manager Brandon Beane’s “‘number one choice. The first guy I targeted.’”
There is no Carolina/McDermott connection here, but there is a Buffalo one. Boyd’s first NFL gig was with the Colts who at the time were being run by Bill Polian, the architect of the great Bills teams of the late 80s and early 90s.
