Buffalo Bills interviewing Brian Gaine for general manager opening

Currently the Houston Texans Director of Player Personnel

John McClain of the Houston Chronicle is reporting that Brian Gaine will be interviewing with the Buffalo Bills for the open General Manager position. Gaine is entering is 18th season in an NFL front office. He began his personnel career in 1999 in the New York Jets scouting department and has been working his way up ever since. Beane has worked for the Jets, the Dallas Cowboys, the Miami Dolphins, and the Houston Texans. His NFL resume is below. The highest he rose within an organization was the two seasons he spent as Assistant GM with the Dolphins.

Just like Brandon Beane, Brian Gaine interviewed with the 49ers in January for their GM position. Both were passed over in favor of John Lynch. If Gaine’s resume looks familiar, it is because it is similar to Doug Whaley’s. Whaley worked his way up through the Pittsburgh Steelers and Bills as a pro personnel coordinator, director of pro personnel, and assistant general manager.

Unlike Beane, there is no connection we can find between Gaine and Sean McDermott. Gaine is just the second candidate for the open position to be reported. It is extremely likely that there will be more candidates reported in the coming days.
