Podcast: Buffalo Bills fire Doug Whaley, decline Sammy Watkins option

New, comments

The Buffalo Bills have made some strange moves this week. I discussed it with SB Nation Radio on Wednesday.

The Buffalo Bills made several headline-making moves this week. It started with a huge trade down in the first round of the NFL Draft, then they fired general manager Doug Whaley a few days later, before declining to pick up Sammy Watkins fifth year option two days after that.

With all that stuff on the table, SB Nation Radio reached out to ask for my takes. Four days after the draft, I had my draft grades, trade value charts, and scouting reports pulled up to discuss all the newest Bills. But, being that this is the Bills, we didn’t talk about any of that stuff!

Instead in the embedded audio below, you can hear discussions on the timing of the move to fire Doug Whaley, Sean McDermott’s new role in the organization, candidates to replace Whaley, and more surrounding the general manager job. we also spend a couple minutes discussing the Watkins option, with the hosts saying it may be a savvy move by the Bills brass.
