Buffalo Bills release TE Blake Annen

The 26-year-old tight end has been on the Bills since December 2015.

The Buffalo Bills announced that they have released tight end Blake Annen.

Initially added to the team’s practice squad on December 15, 2015, Annen was waived/injured on September 2, 2016. After he cleared waivers he was placed on the Bills injured reserved list.

Annen never made a catch for the Bills nor was he ever a part of the active, gameday roster. His only NFL experience came in 2014, as he played five games for the Bears.

The 6’4”, 241-pound Annen was an undrafted free agent out of the University of Cincinnati in 2014. Beyond his time with the Bills and Bears, he made stops with the Eagles, Saints, and Packers. He would have had to piece together a huge training camp to make the final 53-man roster.

Yes, this means the Bills have an open roster spot. Let the speculation begin as to who they’ll sign with mandatory minicamp getting underway this week.
