Former Buffalo Bills running back Fred Jackson has made it known, at 36, he still wants to play football, and he’ll get a chance to do that this summer.
Per Pro Football Talk, Jackson -- and his former teammate Anthony Dixon — will appear in a Spring League Showcase game on July 15 in California.
From Florio:
“The game, to be played at Napa Memorial Stadium, will pit Spring League California against Spring League East. Terry Shea will coach the California team; Donnie Henderson will lead the East team.”
In 2015, his most recent season in the NFL, Jackson rushed 26 times for 100 yards and caught 32 passes for 257 yards with two touchdowns as a member of the Seahawks.
Dixon, 29, had 21 rushes for 44 yards with one rushing touchdown and had six receptions for 44 yards in 2016 for Buffalo.
Henderson is one of the most well-respected secondary coaches in the NFL and was with the Bills from 2013-2015.
The Spring League began this year with four teams competing at The Greenbrier in West Virginia where the New Orleans Saints travel for training camp.
Former Panthers defensive end Greg Hardy, who was with Sean McDermott in Carolina for five seasons, will also participate in the showcase.
