Buffalo Bills still talking to free agents Anquan Boldin, Gary Barnidge

The Bills could still upgrade at two key positions.

Wide receiver Anquan Boldin and tight end Gary Barnidge remain unsigned and the Buffalo Bills still have interest. Buffalo Bills general manager told The John Murphy Show on Friday that there is still a dialogue between both free agents and the team.

Boldin visited last Monday, while Barnidge visited way back in May. Beane also said there is a deadline for the players to be in Buffalo’s plans, but we all know that stuff like that changes with one injury.

As of Saturday, every NFL team is in training camp. Teams scrambling to fill roster spots won’t be able to do it before practice opens, and free agents will be keeping eyes on camp battles and injuries to pick where they should sign.

Depth is thin at wide receiver, with rookie Zay Jones complementing Sammy Watkins and free agent signee Andre Holmes dropping passes through the first few days of training camp. It’s even worse at tight end, where undrafted rookie free agent Jason Croom was taking snaps with the first team. While the first-line guys will probably be okay, if there is an injury the depth chart looks suspect.

Head coach Sean McDermott had this to say about Bolding during a radio interview on Thursday:

"Had a nice visit with him. We're going through that process. Those decisions take time on both ends."

We will have to wait and see if the Bills can close the deal or deals.
