It’s not exactly the start of the 2017 season, but it will be our first time seeing the Buffalo Bills play an opponent. The team gets the 2017 preseason campaign underway against the Minnesota Vikings this Thursday, August 10th at New Era Field in Orchard Park. Kick off is scheduled for 7:00 PM ET.
It will be the first time many players will don a Bills uniform. Notables include recent addition Anquan Boldin, rookies Tre’Davious White and Zay Jones, semi-rookie Reggie Ragland, and free agent additions Micah Hyde, Andre Holmes, and Rod Streater. It will also be the first time those in positional battles get to show their worth against a live opponent.
The two teams last played in 2014 in one of the more memorable games of Kyle Orton’s time in a Bills uniform. He led a fourth quarter comeback that included a 4th-and-20 conversion by Orton and Chandler, a great catch by Chris Hogan, and a last-second touchdown pass to Sammy Watkins that tied that game. A Dan Carpenter extra point would seal the victory.
Like I said earlier, it isn’t exactly the start, but its football and it means we’re one step closer to the real deal. I think everyone can agree on that being a great thing.
