The Buffalo Bills will take on the Philadelphia Eagles this Thursday at 7:00 PM Eastern at Lincoln Financial Field. After a mediocre showing in their first preseason game, the team is looking to put a more solid outing together this time.
Obviously, much of the news surrounding the Bills since their opening preseason game has been on the two bombshell trades that general manager Brandon Beane made Friday afternoon. Of the two new players acquired, only E.J. Gaines is likely to make his Bills debut on Thursday. Jordan Mathews injured his sternum in practice and has already been ruled out. The main haul in both trades were draft picks and unfortunately we’ll have to wait a while to see those players suit up in a Bills uniform.
Joining Mathews on the injury report is starting left tackle Cordy Glenn, who is dealing with a foot injury. He had a procedure earlier this week to hopefully solve the nagging issue. Seantrel Henderson has been filling in for him with the starters this week.
The other major headline from this week that will impact Thursday’s game is the rise of Nathan Peterman from third- to second-string quarterback. McDermott confirmed on Tuesday that Peterman will get second team reps against the Eagles.
The Bills’ roster and depth chart is still very fluid, as we definitely learned this past Friday. Who will start at multiple positions come the regular season will likely be determined over the next two preseason games.
