Buffalo Bills hosting free agent running back Taiwan Jones

He could be in play for the number two running back job

The Buffalo Bills are hosting free agent running back Taiwan Jones, per FanRagSports and confirmed by NYUP.com. Jones was released by the Oakland Raiders last week in a surprising move.

Jones spent six seasons with the Raiders after being their fourth round draft pick in 2011. While he never really caught on as a running back, carrying the ball just 27 times in three season, he excelled on special teams where his works as a gunner earned him a contract extension in 2014.

Danny Crossman spoke to the media on Wednesday morning and two of the players he was most impressed with are potentially slated to see heavy time on the normal side of the ball; receiver Andre Holmes and cornerback Leonard Smith. Jones could be seen as a dedicated special teamer to give these guys a break.

He also brings and explosive amount of speed to a thin running back position behind LeSean McCoy with second-year player Jonathan Williams, veteran fullback/running back Mike Tolbert, and a host of journeymen and unknowns.
