On Tuesday, the Buffalo Bills announced the release of second-year safety Trae Elston and veteran linebacker Jelani Jenkins. The two players still have not been replaced on the roster, so the Bills now sit two men short of 53. We expect corresponding roster moves today.
Elston had been with the Bills since training camp and earned a spot on the roster, he had played in both of the team’s games and contributed on special teams.
Jenkins is a former fourth-round pick of the Miami Dolphins in 2013. He was brought in to bring depth to the linbacker corps. However, Jenkins could barely unpack his bag before getting released Tuesday, he was only with the Bills for exactly one week. Jenkins was inactive for the game against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.
Since the Bills still sit two men short of the full 53 man roster, maybe the team will try and pick up some offensive free agents to replace the two defenders they released. The team is in desperate need for a spark on that side of the ball. That being said, they only have three safeties and four cornerbacks on the roster.
