Jordan Poyer of the Buffalo Bills has been named the AFC Defensive Player of the Month for December. It is a well-deserved honor for Poyer, who had an impressive month with 30 tackles and three interceptions - one of which was returned for a touchdown against the New England Patriots.

It has been an impressive stretch for Poyer, as he has intercepted a pass in each of the Bills last three games. While this recognition comes later in the season, Poyer made his presence felt immediately in the Buffalo secondary this season. He teamed with fellow new addition Micah Hyde to combine for 10 interceptions this season. Poyer has started 15 games this season, having missed the game against the Oakland Raiders with a knee injury.
While Poyer may not have been the most heralded free agent signing by the Bills this off-season, he quickly became one of the most valuable pieces of the Buffalo defense. Despite the fact that he was overlooked for the Pro Bowl, Poyer and his fans can celebrate the Defensive Player of the Month award - and a trip to the playoffs.
