Excitement is building for Sunday’s AFC Wild Card playoff game between the No. 6 seeded Buffalo Bills and the No. 3 seeded Jacksonville Jaguars, which is to be expected when you’re a fan of the Bills, who had missed out on the playoffs in 17 straight seasons before snapping that drought on New Year’s Eve.

Before the Bills (9-7) fly south to face the Jaguars (10-6) at 1:05 p.m. Sunday at EverBank Field, the team is inviting season ticket holders to a pep rally send-off event.

In an email that went out to season ticket holders Wednesday, the team announced that first-year head coach Sean McDermott, along with “some of your favorite players” will address the team’s loyal fans from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday at the ADPRO Sports Training Center (1 Bills Drive) adjacent to New Era Field in Orchard Park, N.Y.

In the statement sent by the team to season ticket holders, free tickets for the pep rally are limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. There is a limit of two tickets per season ticket account, and season ticket holders had to complete a form in order to receive their pep rally tickets.

Doors for the pep rally event open at 1 p.m. Friday, with the pep rally commencing at 2 p.m.

This is Buffalo’s first playoff berth since suffering a 22-16 loss to the Tennessee Titans on Jan. 8, 2000 in the Music City Miracle Mirage in Nashville, Tenn.

UPDATE:

The Bills have reportedly cancelled the event.

“Due to the low temperatures and weather conditions forecasted for tomorrow, we are cancelling the Playoff Pep Rally. Thank you, Go Bills!”
