Buffalo Bills inactives, Week 7: Josh Allen sits

We already knew it, but the Bills’ rookie quarterback is the most noteworthy player among the inactives

The Buffalo Bills will be without two of their rookies today, but each player is missing the game for different reasons. Quarterback Josh Allen is sidelined due to an injured throwing elbow, as he sustained a sprained elbow during last week’s 20-13 loss to the Houston Texans. Return man/slot receiver Ray-Ray McCloud III did not travel with the team this week, though his absence is not injury related.

With two of the inactives already known, the rest of the list was all that we were waiting to see. Most of it looks quite familiar. Here are Buffalo’s 7 inactive players for Week 7.

QB Josh Allen

Starting in the rookie’s place is veteran Derek Anderson, who signed with Buffalo just 12 days ago.

WR/PR/KR Ray-Ray McCloud III

After fumbling a kick return (Buffalo recovered) and muffing a punt (Houston recovered) last week, the Bills left McCloud in Orchard Park for this week’s matchup. There still hasn’t been any word as to why he is inactive. Micah Hyde and/or Marcus Murphy are likely to handle return duties, seeing as...

RB Taiwan Jones

...special teamer Taiwan Jones is out this week with a neck injury. That means that Murphy will appear for the first time since Week 3, where he carried 8 times for 33 yards.

OT Conor McDermott

OT Ike Boettger

OG Wyatt Teller

Nothing to see here, as Buffalo leaves the same three offensive linemen inactive that they have all season (well, almost all season, as McDermott was active until Jeremiah Sirles was acquired). Starting left guard Vladimir Ducasse missed some practice time this week due to an ankle injury, but he does not carry an injury designation heading into today’s game.

CB Ryan Lewis

Buffalo’s starter across from Tre’Davious White for three games continues his fall from grace, as he was inactive last week and will be so again. Donate Johnson is active for the first time this season.

As for the Colts, most of their inactive list was already predetermined. Wide receiver Ryan Grant (ankle), tight end Jack Doyle (hip), defensive lineman Denico Autry (hamstring), safety Clayton Geathers (concussion/neck), and running back Robert Turbin (shoulder) were all declared out after Friday’s practice. The entire list is embedded below.
