New England Patriots receiver Josh Gordon to be benched on Monday Night Football against Buffalo Bills

The Bills catch a small break.

The Buffalo Bills won’t have to deal with one New England Patriots weapon during the beginning of their game on Monday Night Football this week. According to reports, receiver Josh Gordon has been benched for being late to meet the team prior to the flight to Buffalo.

Reports indicate Gordon will be on the bench for the first quarter or several series.

Gordon was traded by the Cleveland Browns earlier this season after his reinstatement. He’s dealt with several off the field problems throughout his NFL career, most notably with drugs, that have kept him from producing at the level at which he is capable. That off-fied behavior is why Cleveland was only able to secure a fifth round pick for his services. He missed all of 2015 and 2016 following suspensions.

In four games with the Patriots, Gordon has 13 catches for 224 yards and a touchdown on 22 targets.
