Buffalo Bills inactives, Week 15: LeSean McCoy is out

The Bills are down their starting running back

The Buffalo Bills declared their gameday inactive list for their Week 15 matchup against the Detroit Lions, and there weren’t too many surprises. Most of the names on the list are the same as those that have been on it for most of the year. Here are the players who will sit out against Detroit.

QB Derek Anderson

The good news is that the veteran has finally cleared concussion protocol. Even though he is healthy, he’ll be a healthy scratch today, as Buffalo will go with Matt Barkley as backup to rookie Josh Allen.

RB LeSean McCoy

Shady injured his hamstring in last week’s 27-23 loss to the New York Jets, and while he was able to practice on Thursday and Friday, the team kept him inactive today. With the season already over, there is no sense in forcing the veteran to play through an injury, even if he wants to do it.

RB Chris Ivory

Buffalo’s other veteran rusher was a game-time decision due to a shoulder injury that he suffered last week. The team has ruled him out for the game. With McCoy and Ivory down, Marcus Murphy and undrafted rookie Keith Ford will share carries in the backfield, with Murphy drawing the start.

TE Logan Thomas

The tight end was added to the injury report on Thursday, as he tweaked his hamstring in practice. Two tight ends will suit up this week—Charles Clay and Jason Croom, who returns after sitting last week with a groin injury.

G Vladimir Ducasse

The veteran will sit again. Wyatt Teller unseated Ducasse in the starting lineup a few weeks ago, and the latter has been inactive for all but one game since. Ryan Groy starts at center, and Jeremiah Sirles, Ike Boettger, and Conor McDermott are the backups.

CB Ryan Lewis

The only player ruled out for Buffalo in advance of the game was Lewis, who suffered a concussion last week against the Jets. The Bills only have four corners on the active roster, which means that either Denzel Rice will see action in the slot or the team will go with a big-nickel look by playing Rafael Bush more often.

S Dean Marlowe

After his promotion from the practice squad, Marlowe is a healthy scratch this week. Buffalo rolls with 4 corners and 4 safeties.
