2019 NFL Draft order: Buffalo Bills tumble to 10th pick through fifteen weeks

Victory over Detroit means the Lions actually sit three spots ahead at the seventh pick

Since Josh Allen has returned from injury, the Buffalo Bills draft position in the 2019 NFL Draft have started to resemble an EKG machine. After two hard-fought losses to the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets, the team returned to their winning ways against a moribund Detroit Lions team on Sunday. The 14-13 victory means that Buffalo is now tied with four other teams at 5-9 and now ‘owns’ the tenth pick of 2019 NFL Draft after being in possession of the sixth pick just last week.

Here’s where the top seven spots in the draft currently stand, along with the accompanying record for each team:

  1. Arizona Cardinals: 3-11
  2. Oakland Raiders: 3-10
  3. San Francisco 49ers: 4-10
  4. New York Jets: 4-10
  5. Jacksonville Jaguars: 4-10
  6. Atlanta Falcons: 5-9
  7. Detroit Lions: 5-9
  8. New York Giants: 5-9
  9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 5-9
  10. Buffalo Bills: 5-9

With only two games left in the season, it’s looking like the Bills will be held out of, at least, the top picks. The Cardinals, Raiders and 49ers each have brutal two-game stretches to end the season, more than likely ensuring a top-three pick for each team. The four 5-9 teams slotted ahead of the Bills have a much more forgiving schedule, which could mean the promise of more shuffling of picks four through ten in the coming weeks.

Buffalo’s upcoming schedule will be intimidating however, as the New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins will both view their games against Buffalo as hugely important. The Patriots will be hoping for a higher seeding in the AFC when they meet the Bills next week, while the Dolphins will likely be playing for their playoff lives when they travel up to Buffalo to end the season. Regardless, after this week, the Bills are guaranteed to have a top-15 pick in the 2019 Draft, so hurrah for that.
