Marcus Murphy has dislocated elbow; Buffalo Bills will evaluate if he can play

Buffalo’s top three runners are working through injuries.

Buffalo Bills running back Marcus Murphy suffered a dislocated elbow on Sunday against the Detroit Lions. The injury ended his day after 11 carries for 35 yards. His injury is of the type that could take up to a few weeks to heal, depending on severity. Speaking with the media on Monday, head coach Sean McDermott noted that the Bills will see if Murphy can play through the pain with his elbow over the remaining two weeks of the season.

Murphy’s injury leaves undrafted rookie Keith Ford as the only healthy running back in Buffalo. The team even resorted to using fullback Patrick DiMarco for a carry, which he ran for nine yards. LeSean McCoy (hamstring) and Chris Ivory (shoulder) couldn’t play last week, but both have a better chance to appear against the New England Patriots this Sunday. Ivory practiced fully a week ago. Quarterback Josh Allen, the team’s leading rusher, will also pick up the slack in the running game.
