The Buffalo Bills released their inactive report for today’s game against the Miami Dolphins, and while we already knew two of the names on the list, there were a few who were still up in the air until the 11:30 announcement. Tight end Charles Clay will play after missing the last three games with a hamstring injury. His return means that someone else was deactivated for the game.
Here is the full list of Buffalo’s inactives for this afternoon.
QB Derek Anderson
While the veteran was able to return to practice this week in a limited capacity, he still is not fully ceared from the concussion he suffered on Monday Night Football against the New England Patriots on October 29. Josh Allen and Matt Barkley are the active quarterbacks for Buffalo.
WR Ray-Ray McCloud III
Buffalo’s sixth-round draft pick is not active again, having been replaced in the active lineup by midseason acquisition Isaiah McKenzie. With an overhaul at the position expected in the offseason, it’s appropriate to question McCloud’s future with the team given his lack of production and how well McKenzie has performed since replacing him.
TE Logan Thomas
This is somewhat surprising, as the Bills had gone with three tight ends in each game where Thomas, Clay, and Jason Croom have been healthy. However, the team has gone with more three-receiver looks since Clay’s hamstring injury, and they will go with 6 receivers rather than 3 tight ends this week.
G John Miller
Buffalo’s starter for the duration of the season at right guard injured an oblique last weekend, and he won’t be able to play this week as a result. He will be replaced in the starting lineup by Jeremiah Sirles.
G Vlad Ducasse
The former starter at left guard has been unseated by rookie Wyatt Teller. Ducasse has been inactive for two straight games now.
OT Conor McDermott
Nothing to see here, as McDermott is inactive again. The real story is that Ike Boettger, who also has been a heathy scratch in nearly every game, will be active this week instead of McDermott and Ducasse. With Jeremiah Sirles set to start at right guard, the Bills needed a tackle, and they picked Boettger over McDermott.
CB Ryan Lewis
With Lafayette Pitts ready to go after emerging from the concussion protocol this week, Lewis, the former starter at corner opposite Tre’Davious White, will sit as a healthy scratch.
